How to Care and Maintain Your Orchids & Exotics?

Soak the bottom quarter of the pot in room-temperature water for about 15 minutes. It works way better than pouring from the top because the bark actually gets time to absorb properly.

How to Choose the Right Orchids & Exotic Plants for Your Space?

  • Small spaces, big blooms

Piccola and Mini Phalaenopsis stay compact in 3.5 inch pots. Blooms are still full and dense.

  • Room needs a statement

Big entryway or living room with nothing going on? Cymbidium and Maxima grow tall sturdy stems in 6 to 10 inch pots. These are the plants people actually stop and comment on.

  • Forgetful with watering?

No judgement. Grab an Orchid Cactus. It's part succulent so it handles neglect a lot better than a traditional orchid would. Perfect for inconsistent plant parents.

  • 30-Day Happy Plant Guarantee

If a plant arrives damaged or fails to settle, you can easily replace it within 30 days of your purchase.

What Are the Benefits of Growing Orchids & Exotics?

How to Fix Common Orchid & Exotic Plant Problems?

Don't panic. Silvery grey roots just mean the plant is thirsty. Soak the pot and watch them turn bright green in minutes.

That's overwatering. Cut away anything black or mushy with clean shears, repot into fresh chunky bark, and go easier on the water this time around. Also make sure your pot has proper drainage because that's usually where the problem starts.

Check for cold drafts, heating vents, or a fruit bowl nearby. Ripening fruit releases ethylene gas and orchids really can't handle it.

Those little cottony clusters are mealybugs. Dab them with a Q-tip soaked in 70% isopropyl alcohol. Hard brown bumps mean scale, wipe those down with neem oil. Most people catch these late so try to check your leaves every week or so.

Can I use regular potting soil?

No. Orchids grow on trees in the wild so regular soil just suffocates them. Use bark, perlite, or sphagnum moss

That actually means the plant is healthy, it just needs a push. More light usually does it. Or let the room get cooler at night for a couple weeks and see what happens

Most people repot way too early. Wait until the bark looks mushy and broken down, which is usually 1 to 2 years. Orchids like tight roots so a crowded pot isn't really a problem.
