Our Story
It started with plants I couldn't stop giving away.
The story
In 2022, I wasn't running a plant business. I just had a lot of plants. Healthy ones, pest-free, thriving in every corner of my place. Friends and family started noticing and asking if they could have one. So I gave them away, along with everything I knew about keeping them alive: how often to water, how much light they needed, what to watch for.
Word spread. People kept coming back for more, and this time they wanted to pay. That's when I reached out to some of the larger nurseries and wholesalers who supply indoor plants across Ontario, and MyGreenScape became real: a website, a social page, and a promise that stuck with me from day one. This was never just about selling houseplants. It was about handing someone a plant that actually survives, and being there when they had questions.
Where our plants actually come from
Every plant starts at large indoor plant greenhouses across Ontario. We hand select for health, fullness, and pest-free condition, the same standard I held myself to back when I was giving plants away, just at a much bigger scale now.
That part about being there became our biggest focus. Customers still text us photos of their plants asking what's wrong or what's next, and we treat that the same way I used to treat a friend's question. With an actual answer, not a canned one.
Solving the hardest problem: shipping a living thing
Early on, the biggest risk to the business wasn't sourcing good plants. It was getting them to someone's door in one piece. Soil spills, leaves snap, couriers aren't gentle. We went through a lot of trial and error before landing on a packing process we trust.
Every plant is inspected a second time at dispatch. Watered if it needs it, soil secured and taped in place. From there it's wrapped in protective paper or a sleeve, boxed with cushioning material so it can't shift in transit, and only then scheduled for shipment.
It's not glamorous, but it's the reason plants still arrive at your door looking the way they did in the greenhouse.
From pickup counter to storefront
As word got around and more local customers started asking about pickup instead of shipping, we partnered with a Richmond Hill location to make that easy. What started as a pickup counter grew quickly into something bigger, one of the first dedicated indoor plant stores in Richmond Hill.

Listening to what customers actually needed
Over the years, as we grew, customers kept telling us the same things. They had pets and needed to know what was safe. They wanted plants that actually cleaned the air. They had busy schedules and needed something hard to kill. They lived in apartments or offices with barely any natural light. So we started sorting plants into four categories to make shopping easier:
- Pet Friendly, for plant parents who have pets
- Air Purifying, for the health conscious
- Easy Care, for plant parents with busy schedules
- Low Light, for apartments and offices where light is limited
Where we are today
MyGreenScape is a small team now, but the promise hasn't changed since I was handing plants to friends. Healthy plants, honest advice, and support that doesn't end at checkout. Today we offer local delivery across the GTA and Toronto, local pickup from our Richmond Hill location, and standard shipping across Ontario, Quebec, and the rest of Canada. Every plant has come with our 30 Day Happy Plant Guarantee since day one, and if your plant's leaves start doing something strange six months from now, you can still text us a photo.

I received my string of turtle today, though I ordered a small one most of the leaves look healthy and happy I kind of wish it had a few more strands but I’m going to work hard to make sure it’s happy and healthy! The Stromanthe Triostar was the last plant I unwrapped from my second order from mygreenscape.ca. I gasped when I saw this beautiful plant with its long leaves of dark and light pink and green. The underside of the leaves are deep pink. And it has some stripes, especially underneath. She is very healthy and has a few new leaves unfurling. All the plants were packaged up very well.
