I received my string of turtle today, though I ordered a small one most of the leaves look healthy and happy I kind of wish it had a few more strands but I’m going to work hard to make sure it’s happy and healthy! For winter protection they wrapped it in cotton I’m super happy with all my plants so far!

The Stromanthe Triostar was the last plant I unwrapped from my second order from mygreenscape.ca. I gasped when I saw this beautiful plant with its long leaves of dark and light pink and green. The underside of the leaves are deep pink. And it has some stripes, especially underneath. She is very healthy and has a few new leaves unfurling. All the plants were packaged up very well. Most indoor palms want bright, indirect light. Think 2 to 4 feet from a south or east window. But direct Toronto summer sun through glass will scorch the fronds. So sheer curtains work beautifully. Common Palm Problems and Quick Fixes

Usually dry air or chlorinated tap water. Fix it by bumping humidity above 40% and letting tap water sit 24 hours before pouring. For Areca-specific tips, see our Areca Palm plant care guide.

Overwatering is the usual culprit. Check the top 2 inches of soil. Soggy? Skip watering for 5 to 7 days and check drainage holes. But if yellowing starts at older lower fronds only, that's normal shedding. Just trim them at the base.

Tiny webs under fronds mean spider mites. Sticky spots mean scale. So wipe fronds weekly with a damp cloth. And treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap every 7 days for 3 weeks.

Either thirsty or root-bound. Water thoroughly first. If leaves don't perk up in 48 hours, check the root ball. Circling roots or pot cracks mean it's time to size up.
