About This Plant

Crocodile Fern (Microsorum musifolium 'Crocodyllus') is native to the tropical rainforests of Malaysia, Australia, and Southeast Asia. The fronds are light to mid-green and the veining pattern is bold and three-dimensional when viewed up close.

The crocodile-skin frond texture is unique. Every other common houseplant fern has smooth, matte, or fine-textured fronds. The Crocodile Fern has deeply ridged, almost three-dimensional frond surfaces that catch light from multiple angles and look different from any other plant.
