About This Plant

Dracaena Reflexa Song of India is native to Madagascar, Mauritius, and Mozambique. The leaves are shorter and broader than most Dracaenas and are arranged in dense spiral whorls around the stems, giving the plant a different textured, branching character.

The golden-yellow leaf are unlike any other common Dracaena. Most Dracaenas have long strap-like leaves in upright clusters. The Song of India has shorter leaves arranged in tight spirals around multiple branching stems, which creates a dense, textured, bushy character that reads very differently from an upright cane Dracaena.

Keep it away from pets and children. The ASPCA confirms Dracaena spp. is toxic to cats and dogs. The plant contains saponins that cause vomiting, excessive drooling, weakness, and loss of appetite. In cats, ingestion can also cause dilated pupils. Keep it out of reach of pets and small children.

It suits medium to bright rooms and rewards consistent filtered water. The golden border sections are sensitive to fluoride in tap water, which causes browning specifically on the pale edges.
