I received my string of turtle today, though I ordered a small one most of the leaves look healthy and happy I kind of wish it had a few more strands but I’m going to work hard to make sure it’s happy and healthy! For winter protection they wrapped it in cotton I’m super happy with all my plants so far!

The Stromanthe Triostar was the last plant I unwrapped from my second order from mygreenscape.ca. I gasped when I saw this beautiful plant with its long leaves of dark and light pink and green. The underside of the leaves are deep pink. And it has some stripes, especially underneath. She is very healthy and has a few new leaves unfurling. All the plants were packaged up very well. Signs Your Bonsai Needs Attention

Canadian winters drop indoor humidity below what bonsai need. Put a pebble tray with water under the pot or move it away from the heating vent.

 It happens due to overwatering. Let the soil dry out slightly between waterings and check drainage. If water isn't escaping the pot, the roots are sitting in it.

 Lack of natural light. Condos with north-facing windows face this issue. Move it closer to the brightest window you have, or pick up a basic grow light.

 Fungus gnats come from keeping the soil too wet, let it dry out between waterings. Spider mites come from dry air. Wipe the leaves down and increase humidity around the pot.

For indoor spaces, the Snowrose does well. It can handle condo conditions, and doesn't need a dormancy cycle (cold winter rest period). No need to move it to a garage or balcony when temperatures drop.

 Most indoor bonsai stay between 15 and 30 cm tall. They grow slowly, so they won't outgrow a windowsill anytime soon. The pot size controls most of it.

 Water runs straight through the pot without soaking in, or you can see roots pushing out from the drainage hole. Every 2 to 3 years is the usual window for most indoor bonsai.

 A south-facing window is ideal. North-facing light alone is not enough long term and you'll see it in the leaves. A basic grow light fixes that without much cost or effort.
