I received my string of turtle today, though I ordered a small one most of the leaves look healthy and happy I kind of wish it had a few more strands but I’m going to work hard to make sure it’s happy and healthy! For winter protection they wrapped it in cotton I’m super happy with all my plants so far!

The Stromanthe Triostar was the last plant I unwrapped from my second order from mygreenscape.ca. I gasped when I saw this beautiful plant with its long leaves of dark and light pink and green. The underside of the leaves are deep pink. And it has some stripes, especially underneath. She is very healthy and has a few new leaves unfurling. All the plants were packaged up very well. How to Care for Hoya Plants Indoors

Water your hoya when the soil dries out completely. Check the top 2 inches with your finger. If it's dry, soak the pot until water drains out. And in winter, stretch it to every 3-4 weeks. Soggy soil kills roots fast. So err on the dry side. Leaves pucker slightly when it's thirsty. That's your cue.

Common Hoya Problems and Quick Fixes

Yellow leaves usually mean overwatering. Check if the soil stays soggy for days. If yes, let it dry out fully before the next watering. Move the pot to better light too. And trim any yellow leaves so the plant puts energy into new growth.

Sudden leaf drop often points to cold drafts or a sudden temperature swing. Keep your hoya away from doors and heating vents. Aim for 18-24°C indoors. But if leaves drop after a move, give the plant 2-3 weeks to settle. A short pout is normal.

Mealybugs show up as white cotton tufts in leaf joints. Spider mites leave fine webbing and stippled leaves. Wipe pests off with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. Then spray with neem oil or insecticidal soap weekly for 3 weeks. And isolate the plant until the pests are gone.

Soggy soil plus cool winter temperatures equals root rot. Unpot the plant. Trim mushy black roots with clean scissors. Repot into a chunky, well-draining mix with extra perlite. And water less often while your plant recovers.

No. Hoyas prefer bright indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning sun is fine. But harsh afternoon sun scorches the leaves. Place your plant near an east or west window, or 2-3 feet back from a south window.

Most non-bloomers are simply too young. Hoyas usually flower after 2-3 years of mature growth. Not enough light is the next culprit. So move your plant to a brighter spot and give it a bloom booster in summer. And leave the flower spurs alone after blooming. They rebloom from the same spot.
