About This Plant

Chlorophytum Mandarin is a cultivar of the spider plant family native to tropical Africa. Like all spider plants, it sends out long arching runners on which small plantlets form and hang freely, creating the cascading, spidery look that gives the whole genus its name.

The warm orange stems add colour that most spider plants do not have. Standard spider plants have green or white stems. The Mandarin has warm orange to coral-coloured petioles that are most vivid in good indirect light and add a warm accent to the plant's overall appearance.

Safe for cats and dogs. The ASPCA confirms Chlorophytum comosum (Spider Plant) is non-toxic to cats and dogs. Note that cats are specifically attracted to spider plants and will often chew on them. The plant is not poisonous but large amounts eaten can cause mild stomach upset.
