Peperomia Santorini

Peperomia Santorini stands out for its round, rippled leaves that show a silvery grey-green on top and a deep burgundy red underneath. It is a hybrid of Peperomia caperata, tracing back to plants originally found in the Brazilian rainforest. The leaves naturally point upward as the plant matures, which shows off that red underside a little more with each new leaf. It stays compact and works well on a desk, shelf, or windowsill.

Why People Like Peperomia Santorini

🍃 Two Colors in One Leaf

The grey-green top and red underside give this plant a quiet, striking look that changes depending on the angle you view it from.

🌿 Rippled, Textured Leaves

Like other caperata varieties, the leaves have a deeply ridged texture that adds visual interest even without bright color.

🏡 Compact and Tidy

It grows upright and stays small, so it fits easily on a tabletop or shelf without taking over the space.

🐾 Safe Around Pets

Peperomia Santorini is non toxic, so it is a safe pick for homes with cats or dogs.

All the Details You Need to Know

The Story Behind This Plant

Peperomia Santorini is a Peperomia caperata cultivar, part of a group of peperomias that trace back to the rainforests of Brazil. Breeders selected this variety for its two-tone leaf coloring and its deeply rippled texture, both classic caperata traits, giving it a calmer, more muted look than some of the brighter caperata cultivars.

How to Keep Your Peperomia Santorini Happy
  • Light: Give it medium to bright, indirect light. Good light keeps the color on the leaves crisp and helps the plant grow more evenly.
  • Water: Let the top inch of soil dry out before watering again. This plant is sensitive to soggy soil, so it is better to underwater slightly than to overwater.
  • Humidity: It tolerates average home humidity, though a bit of extra moisture in the air does not hurt.
  • Soil: Use a well draining potting mix. Adding perlite helps keep the roots from sitting in wet soil.
  • Temperature: Average to warm room temperature is best. Keep it away from cold drafts and open windows in the winter.

Bring Home Peperomia Santorini

We hand pick each Peperomia Santorini and pack it carefully so it arrives in good shape anywhere in Ontario or Quebec.

Sun: Indirect

Place near an east or north-facing window, or a few feet back from a south/west-facing window with sheer curtains.

Light: Bright - Medium

They enjoy bright, indirect light with occasional gentle morning or late-afternoon sun. Avoid harsh midday rays to prevent leaf scorch.

Water: When mostly dry

Allow the top 2–3 inches of soil to dry before watering. This Peperomia is semi-succulent, which means it stores water in its leaves and is sensitive to overwatering. Water sparingly, especially in cooler months.

Humidity: Any

Allow the top 50–75% of soil to dry before watering. Overwatering can cause root rot, so ensure the pot has drainage holes.

Pet Friendly: Yes

Non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a safe choice for pet-friendly homes.

Pro Tip

Rotate the plant every few weeks for even growth, and wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth to keep them dust-free and photosynthesizing efficiently.
