Common Questions
How often should I water Agave Blue Glow indoors?
Water thoroughly, then wait until the soil is completely dry before watering again. In spring and summer, every two to three weeks. In a Canadian winter, once every three to four weeks at most. Our indoor plant watering guide shows exactly how to check soil moisture.
What window does it need in a Canadian home?
A south-facing window is ideal. West-facing also works. East- or north-facing windows do not give enough light, especially from October to February. Read our guide to light requirements for indoor plants to find the right spot.
Is Agave Blue Glow toxic to cats and dogs?
It is not listed in the ASPCA toxic and non-toxic plant database, so its toxicity to cats and dogs cannot be confirmed. The sap causes skin irritation on contact and the sharp leaf tip is a physical hazard. Keep it on a high shelf that pets cannot reach.
Will it survive a Canadian winter indoors?
Yes, as long as you keep it in a bright window and cut back on watering. It is not frost hardy and must stay indoors once temperatures drop below 10°C. Keep it away from cold glass, which can drop near freezing right at the pane in Ontario and Quebec homes.
Why are the leaves turning yellow or going soft?
Almost always overwatering. Wet soil causes root rot fast, especially in winter when growth slows. Let the soil dry out completely, remove any mushy outer leaves, and make sure the pot drains freely. If the base feels soft, repot into dry, fresh succulent mix right away.
