About This Plant

Ellwoodii Cypress (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Ellwoodii') is a compact, slow-growing cultivar of the Lawson Cypress, native to the Pacific coast of North America. It is a true conifer that grows extremely slowly, adding only 10 to 15 cm per year, eventually reaching 60 to 90 cm tall in a pot over several years.

Cleanest architectural shapes available in a living plant. The Ellwoodii grows in a naturally precise, narrow, pyramidal column with no pruning required. The fine, feathery blue-green foliage is evenly textured across the entire column and has a soft, almost metallic sheen.

Not listed by the ASPCA as toxic. Chamaecyparis is not on the ASPCA confirmed toxic or non-toxic list. Multiple horticultural sources describe it as non-toxic, but as it has not been confirmed by the ASPCA, keep it out of reach of pets and small children as a precaution.
