Its striking patterns and robust growth habit distinguish it from the standard *Monstera deliciosa* 'Aurea'. It is known to have been popularized by Japanese horticulturalists, prized for its reliable and dramatic color transformation—the "Polaroid Variegation." Its parent species, native to the tropical rainforests of Central America, is famous for its fenestrated leaves, giving it the nickname "Swiss Cheese Plant," a feature amplified by the 'Yellow Marilyn's' stunning golden hues.

Like all variegated Monsteras, the 'Yellow Marilyn' thrives with attentive care, particularly concerning light, which is crucial for maintaining its vibrant yellow color.

• **Light:** Requires **bright, indirect light** to ensure the yellow variegation remains vivid and stable. It needs more light than non-variegated plants. **Crucially, avoid direct, harsh midday sun** which can easily scorch the delicate yellow tissue. Gentle morning sun is acceptable.
• **Water:** Water thoroughly, but always allow the **top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out** between waterings. It is highly susceptible to root rot if overwatered.

• **Support:** As a large-form climber, provide a strong **moss pole or trellis** early on to support its aerial roots and encourage larger, more fenestrated leaves.
