Ficus Altissima Yellow Gem

Ficus Altissima 'Yellow Gem' does best in medium to bright, filtered light. A spot that gets 4–6 hours of bright light daily will keep its variegated leaves vibrant and healthy. Avoid low light, or it may start to lose its color.

They enjoy some direct sun, but they'll also do well in bright, indirect light. It's best to place this plant near an east or west-facing window where it gets a bit of morning or late afternoon sun, but keep it protected from harsh midday rays to avoid leaf burn.

Let the top 2–3 inches of soil dry out between waterings. Overwatering is a common issue—if the soil stays soggy, it can lead to root rot. Water thoroughly, but only when the pot feels noticeably lighter and the topsoil feels dry.

This plant tolerates average indoor humidity just fine. However, if you can increase humidity a little (especially in winter), the leaves will look even better. Mist occasionally or place near a humidifier for a boost.

Ficus Altissima is not pet-safe. It can cause irritation if ingested by cats, dogs, or small children. Always place it somewhere out of reach if you have curious pets at home.

Rotate the plant every few weeks so it grows evenly toward the light. If leaves get dusty, gently wipe them with a damp cloth to help it breathe and absorb more light. Consider fertilizing monthly in spring and summer to boost growth.
