About This Plant

Golden Zebra Bamboo Fern (Coniogramme emeiensis 'Golden Zebra') is native to the mountain forests of eastern Asia, including China and Japan. It produces long, arching, ribbon-like fronds with broad, strap-shaped leaves. It grows in an arching, clumping form reaching 45 to 60 cm tall and wide.

The horizontal golden banding on long ribbon-like fronds looks pretty. Most ferns have uniformly green fronds with fine pinnate leaflets. The Golden Zebra Bamboo Fern has a completely different form. The effect is graphic and bold from a distance.

Not confirmed on the ASPCA list, but widely described as non-toxic. Multiple plant care sources describe bamboo ferns as non-toxic to pets and it appears on published lists of pet-safe variegated plants. Until formally confirmed, keep it out of easy reach of pets and small children.
