About This Plant

Delosperma lehmannii, commonly called Lehmann's Ice Plant, is native to the arid coastal and semi-desert regions of the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. In spring and summer it produces vivid daisy-like flowers in bright pink, yellow, or purple depending on light conditions. It is a true drought-tolerant with virtually no maintenance.

The glistening leaves and vivid daisy flowers are its two defining qualities. The crystalline texture of the leaves is caused by specialised epidermal cells that reflect light, giving the plant a shimmering appearance in direct sun. When blooms appear in spring and summer, the small but vivid daisy-like flowers completely cover the rosettes.
