Adorable

I received my string of turtle today, though I ordered a small one most of the leaves look healthy and happy I kind of wish it had a few more strands but I’m going to work hard to make sure it’s happy and healthy! For winter protection they wrapped it in cotton I’m super happy with all my plants so far!

Breathtaking!

The Stromanthe Triostar was the last plant I unwrapped from my second order from mygreenscape.ca. I gasped when I saw this beautiful plant with its long leaves of dark and light pink and green. The underside of the leaves are deep pink. And it has some stripes, especially underneath. She is very healthy and has a few new leaves unfurling. All the plants were packaged up very well. Thanks so much!

My ZZ :-)

I'm so happy to have received this ZZ plant. Originally I ordered four plants, then after looking at my order I realized 2 of the same plant was in my cart. So I contacted Mygreenscape.ca and it was just in time as the shipment hadn't gone out yet. So I was advised I could pick another plant so that is how I became a plant parent for my ZZ :-) I'm grateful for the kindness I received -Thank you Imtiaz!
This is a very healthy plant. It's tall with interesting and shiny leaves. So nice to have this plant. Thanks Mygreenscape.ca
p.s. I want to purchase the ZZ Raven with my next order.

How to Care for Succulents Indoors

Water your succulent only when the soil feels bone dry. Stick your finger two inches down. If dry, soak the pot until water drains out the bottom. And then wait. Most picks need a drink every 2-3 weeks in summer. But in winter, stretch it to once a month or less. Wrinkled leaves mean your plant is thirsty. A mushy stem means you've overwatered. So err on the dry side. Our jade plant handles missed watering days with zero fuss.

Common Succulent Problems and Quick Fixes

A soft, mushy, black stem means root rot from too much water. Unpot your plant right away. Trim any mushy roots with clean scissors. And let the remaining healthy tissue callus for a day before repotting. Switch to a gritty, fast-draining mix. Then water only when the soil is completely dry.

Tall, pale, stretched stems with big gaps between leaves mean not enough light. This is called etiolation. Move your plant to a brighter window. But ease it in over a week. Direct sun on a previously shaded plant causes sunburn. And you can behead the stretched top, let it callus, and replant for a fresh compact look.

Wrinkled leaves are your thirst signal. Soak the pot in a sink of water for 15 minutes. Let it drain fully. Leaves plump back up within 24-48 hours. But if wrinkling sticks around after watering, check the roots. Rotten roots can't drink. So healthy roots equal healthy plump leaves.

Mealybugs look like white cotton tufts in leaf joints. Wipe them off with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. Fungus gnats swarm moist soil. So let your pot dry out completely to kill the larvae. And a layer of horticultural sand on top blocks future egg-laying.

Succulent Plant FAQs

Check the soil first. Water only when it feels completely dry two inches down. That's usually every 2-3 weeks in spring and summer. But in winter, it drops to once every 4-6 weeks. And always pour out any water sitting in the saucer.

Most do. Aim for 4-6 hours of bright light daily. South or west windows are best in Canadian homes. But some picks, like haworthia, prefer bright indirect light. Harsh afternoon sun in July can scorch leaves. So watch for red or brown patches and pull plants back if you see them.

Gritty, fast-draining soil. Store-bought cactus mix works. Or blend 2 parts potting soil with 1 part perlite and 1 part coarse sand. And always use a pot with drainage holes.

Some are. Haworthia is generally considered non-toxic, while jade plants are toxic to cats and dogs. Always check before bringing a new plant home. The ASPCA toxic plants database is a reliable source.

It's simple. Twist a healthy leaf off the stem. Let the cut end dry and callus for 2-3 days on a paper towel. Then set the leaf on top of dry succulent soil. Mist lightly once a week. And roots plus baby plants appear in 3-6 weeks.
